OPEN CALL - Nordic regional (net)working residency exchange program
Publicerad
ABOUT THE EXCHANGE PROGRAM
The Nordic regional (net)working residency exchange program aims to create a platform for exchange and collaboration between freelance dancers and independent choreographers living and working in the northern parts of Sweden, Finland and Norway. The program is made possible by collaboration between and investment from Dans i Västerbotten, Danscentrum Norr, Regionala danscentret i Österbotten and Davvi - Senter for scenekunst as well as funding from Nordic Culture Fund, Bartens Secretary, Region Västerbotten, Vasa Stad and the Finnish Arts and Culture Agency.
The program consists of three residency exchange periods, one in each country. Each residency period will be three weeks long and welcome a choreographic duo as well as a single choreographer working with two local dancers.
The selected artists and dancers will also be invited to a joint networking meeting and kick-off during the Arctic Arts Summit in Umeå in June 2026 to lay the ground for future collaboration and exchange.

The residency periods that you as a choreographer/dancer based in Dance Ostrobothnia’s region in Finland can apply for:
FIRST PERIOD: 14 SEPTEMBER - 4 OCTOBER
For the first residency period in Kokkola, Central Ostrobothnia (FI) we are looking for two dancers who will get the opportunity to work with a Norwegian choreographer (not yet selected who). To apply you need to be interested in trying out new ideas and choreographic concepts and be open to contribute to a collaborative creative process.
This period is planned to end in connection to the festival Kokkolan Talvitanssit - Vinterdans i Karleby where you will get the chance to share your work. This may take the shape of a public showing, a facilitated discussion, or another type of public presentation.
SECOND PERIOD: 18 SEPTEMBER - 14 OCTOBER
For the second residency period in Hammerfest (NO) we are looking for a choreographic duo who would like to research a new idea, reframe an old one or dive deep into the unknown. We would be happy to connect you to relevant local partners and can adapt the frames of the residency in relation to the needs or your project (within reason and budget limitations).
The beginning of this period is planned in connection to Dansefestival Barents where you will get the chance to network and take part in the festival program. At the end of the period you are asked to share the work you have undertaken during the residency in some form. This may take the shape of a public showing, a facilitated discussion, or another type of public presentation.
THIRD PERIOD - SPRING 2027 (preliminary in April)
For the third residency period we are looking for a single choreographer who is interested in sharing their work, research and inspirations with two local dancers in Västerbotten, Sweden. We expect good facilitation and communication skills. The invitation is to bring a clear idea and/or questions as well as being interested in a collaborative process with the dancers.
The residency will end with some form of public showing; a facilitated discussion, or another type of public presentation.
