Description
Vaasa-based contemporary dance company Malviniemi Company celebrates its 15th anniversary with a unique performance, The Green Room (Vihreä huone), combining improvised dance and live music.
The work brings together dancers and musicians, offering audiences a rare opportunity to experience a performance created entirely in the moment. The Green Room is an improvisation-based dance and music performance in which the artists explore fundamental questions of what it means to be human through movement, physical expression and sound. The performance explores themes such as presence, being seen, community, participation, listening, grief, comfort and hope. Every moment emerges through the interaction between the performers, and nothing that unfolds will ever be repeated in exactly the same way.
The work's choreographer and dancer, Mia Malviniemi, Artistic Director of Malviniemi Company, is also celebrating her 30-year career in dance. Under her artistic leadership, Malviniemi Company has played a significant role in Vaasa's contemporary dance scene for the past fifteen years. The performance brings together artists who have worked with Malviniemi Company over the years. The dancers include Ailish Maher, Eleni Pierides and Nanna Rahikainen, alongside musicians Ralf Nyqvist, Eero Paalanen and Panu Sivonen. The Green Room invites audiences to share a fleeting world where there is space for playfulness, sensitivity and human connection.
