Description

The photo installation and performance Deer, Dirt, Monkey and Bones explores ecology and coexistence with other species, beings, and natural environments, as well as questions related to the limitations and possibilities of being human. The work consists of a photo installation by performance and visual artists Anttoni Halonen and Soile Voima, and a performance created in collaboration with dance artist Riina Kalmi, taking place in and with soil.

The piece contemplates how we can recognise value and care for different lives, experiences, agents, and realities — worlds that are, for the most part, foreign and unknown to us. Whose life and death matter? Who and what do we pay attention to, and whose stories are ignored or silenced?
