Description
Birongitai (ビロンギタイ) is a dance work about transitions of grounding and belonging. The piece moves on trembling ground, where the vibration of dance decolonizes the existing structure. Like an earthquake, the tremor connects to fluids, inviting the space into a continuously reshaping movement. The choreographer, Japanese-Brazilian immigrant Lindon Shimizu, guides a Finnish-born dancer into a vibrating environment, seeking perspectives on power relations set in motion between diverse textures.
