Description

The Hands Speak – performance and workshop

The Hands Speak is a multidisciplinary work combining four art forms: contemporary dance, textile art, media art, and sound art. The piece was created by dance artist Mia Malviniemi, textile artist Niina Hiltunen, video designer Teemu Kyytinen, and sound designer Sami Silén. The dancer in the work is Vaasa-based artist Ailish Maher.

The performance creates a world where the presence of four different art forms communicates to the viewer and participant a sense of transience as a deeply physical space. The dance piece, textile artwork, and video exist as independent elements, yet intertwine to form a cohesive whole where various mental landscapes are present.
