Description
The widely praised dance film Walk With Me! will be presented to the public at the Vaasa Night of the Arts event on 11 August 2022. The piece has received significant attention and audience interest, so the Regional Dance Centre of Ostrobothnia will organise a series of screenings in collaboration with Film Centre Botnia.
The dance film Walk With Me!, created by choreographer Nanna Rahikainen and the +65 Dance Group, will be shown at the Kuntsi Museum of Modern Art during the Vaasa Night of the Arts on 11 August 2022 from 17:00 to 19:00.
Walk With Me! is a dance work created by and for older people. The performers are members of the Vaasa-based +65 Creative Contemporary Dance Group, who have been practising contemporary dance for several years. The piece is part of the cultural eldercare work that choreographer Nanna Rahikainen has been developing since 2011.
The dance work tells a story of you and me. It speaks of life’s passage, experienced through touch, gaze, and shared presence. The piece invites the audience to listen to lived life — its scents, colours, sounds, and sensations. It is a journey into the landscapes of childhood and youth, which we hope continue to travel with us and remain within us. A gentle touch, a familiar scent, or a soundscape can reappear before us again and again. These themes and reflections form the foundation of Walk With Me!.
